Kathy Eastman, who
we had met in Crews Inn in Trinidad and had stayed with us there for a few
weeks. She joined us for the trip to St. Lucia - her first taste of
cruising. |
 |
Léonie and the
skipper get those cruising muscles going again after months of
marina life. |
 |
The passage from
Trinidad to Grenada always seems to bring us fish. This time we
caught a tuna and two 33" mahi mahi (one on each rod - they
travel in pairs). We normally stop at one fish but figured our friend Ron at
the Barking Barracuda restaurant in Grenada could use the extra. He
did and gave us a lovely meal in exchange. When we caught the first
fish I was resting and thought I'd leave the crew to sort it out.
But when seconds later the line on the second rod went whizzing out
too the sounds of panic had me quickly on deck. |

After gutting all
that fish you need a shower. |
 |
It was good to
meet up with old friends in Grenada. Inge had done great work after
hurricane Ivan helping the local people despite her house being
badly damaged. |

Leone and Kathy

In St. Vincent we
were joined by old family friend, globetrotter and cruising acolyte
Anna Goodall, who soon took to life aboard. |

Jeremy and Anna on
passage through the Grenadines. |
 |
Anna was pleased to
see that the skipper set the highest standards of sartorial elegance
on his vessel. |
 |
Jeremy soon
figured out what it took to keep his new crew happy. |

 |
On clearing in at
Union Island only the skipper was allowed in to the Customs office.
After many minutes of waiting Léonie got concerned I was being
incarcerated behind a wall of breezy breeze block. |
 |
An overnight stop
at the wonderfully named Wallilabou Bay in Dominica. This is where they filmed the Pirates
of the Caribbean, and you can still see the remains of the set. |
 |
The boat boys in
Dominica are pushy, but Anna and Kathy thought it only fair to check
over all their entire stock of merchandise before deciding not to
buy anything! |
 |
In Wallilabou we
met fellow Belize catamaran owners Daniel and Marie-Claude on Margot, and
we had
a couple of jolly evenings together. They sailed their boat all the
way from France to Réunion in the Indian ocean, and thence to the
Caribbean. |
 |
Jeremy
demonstrates that a skipper's work is never done. |
 |
The Pitons - it
must be St. Lucia, and the end of our journey. |
